Create 3D Particle Grids and Objects with Trapecode Form 3
Words dissolve into sand, a logo catches on fire, and now 3D sequences explode into particles. Form 3 keeps the beautiful organic shapes that you love while adding a Designer for quickly and easily creating complex Form objects. Form is useful for creating a wide range of effects such as organic flowing patterns, complex geometric 3D structures, audio-driven animations, fire-like animations and 3D grid structures.
Give your base form endless 3D possibilities by importing OBJ models, OBJ sequences or starting with our professionally designed presets. Supercharge the form with popular Particular features like Textured Polygon particles and Shading for AE lights. Form 3 has tools that work for the high-end motion designer, the professional VFX compositor and every artist in between. With its reorganized interface and better integration into After Effects, Form has grown alongside your creative needs.
Creating particle grids is easier than ever before in the new Designer. Add adjustable blocks with preset settings and styles for emitters, particles and more. Or add complete, customizable particle effects with a single click. The designer gives instant visual feedback, making the building and previewing of effects an intuitive and creative experience.
DISSOLVE TEXT AND LOGOS
Trapcode Form makes it easy to dissolve your text and logos like sand blowing away in the wind.
3D MODELS (NEW)
Bring your motion graphics into a new dimension by using 3D models and animated OBJ sequences as particle grids. Choose from Form’s newly-expanded library of over 60 OBJs, or easily load your own models using the new OBJ Loading Panel directly in After Effects or within the Designer.
SPRITES AND POLYGONS (NEW)
Use any image in your composition as a particle by assigning it to a 2D sprite or textured polygon. Form 3 now includes over 270 still and animated sprite images, easily loaded directly within After Effects or in the Designer via the new Sprite Loading Panel.
Form’s particles can react to the audio in your After Effects composition. They can be set up to change size, position, opacity, and many other properties in response to any audio source in your comp.
MORE CONTROL (NEW)
Get more control over your particle parameters with the new graphing system, updated for Form 3. Animate controls over time for the color, size, opacity, and dispersion of your particles, as well as their fractal and audio reactivity. Draw your curves from scratch, or start with presets and adjust.
3D CAMERA AND LIGHTS
Form uses After Effects’ 3D Camera and Lights so you can fully integrate your particle Effects with your motion graphics and live-action vfx shots.
70+ PRESETS (NEW)
Form 3 Includes over 70 new fully-customizable Designer presets for creating backgrounds and motion design elements.
The new Shadowlet rendering allows particles to cast shadows onto other particles. Combined with dynamic light falloff support for After Effects lights, your particles and composites look better than ever.

After Effects CC 2014-CC2017
Trapcode Form 3 adds some incredible new features for both new and experienced users. These make Form much more efficient to use, and fun to play with.
- Form now has a Designer! This incredible window allows you to browse and apply presets, and tweak settings in a visual way. The Form Designer is similar to the Effects Builder (now the Particular Designer) we saw in the previous version of Particular.
- Presets, presets, presets. Oh yeah, and also more presets. There’s a whole new collection of dozens of Form presets built into the Designer and organized into 8 categories. Form also now ships with hundreds of 2D and 3D sprite presets for making custom particles, as well as over 60 3D OBJ models to use as your Base Form.
- Speaking of 3D files, you now have a lot more control over how Form uses OBJs as your Base Form. You can apply Form particles to the vertices, edges, faces, or the entire volume of an OBJ. You can use Particle Density to remove or add particles to the form. Other new settings like Normalize, Invert Z, and Remove UV Mapping further allow you to customize how you work with OBJs.
- Quick Maps are now called Curves, and their powers have been upgraded to allow you to animate them!
Note that in previous versions of Form, Curves (formerly Quick Maps) were found in their own section of the interface. In Form 3, Curves have been distributed to where they would naturally be found in the interface. For example, the Size Curve is now found in the Size area of the Particle Group with all of the other Size settings (e.g. Size, Size Randomness, etc.). The Fractal Strength Curve is now found in the Fractal Field Group, the audio reaction curves are now found in their respective Reactor sub-groups in the Audio React Group, and so on.
