Post Mag NAB Winner: Avid Media Composer - Winner

At NAB this year, Avid displayed its newest version of Media Composer. The entire NLE has been completely redesigned for the current generation of editors and media makers. Media Composer 2019 was announced at Avid Connect just before NAB started, and was the star of the Avid booth throughout the entire NAB Show.

Media Composer 2019 was designed for both professional and aspiring editors. The new layout is designed to create more intuitive work flows, and the entire NLE runs off a next- generation Avid Media Engine. The new engine includes distributed processing, finishing and delivering capabilities, and a role based interface perfect for large production teams.

“After receiving input from hundreds of editors and teams across the media industry, and knowing where the industry is headed, we reimagined Media Composer, the product that created the nonlinear video editing category and remains the gold standard, Media Composer 2019 is both evolutionary and revolutionary. It maintains what longtime users know and love while giving them more of what they need today —and what they will need tomorrow.”

Jeff Rosica, CEO and president at Avid.

Media Composer 2019 allows users to go from their first cut of a project all the way to the delivery of the final product, without ever leaving the initial application. This is to allow for more creative story telling without being caught up in complex logistics.

Media Composers Four Major Focus Areas:

  1. User Experience: Media Composer 2019 creates a new user experience that Avid veterans haven't seen before. The NLE reduces the cluttered crowded look of previous iterations, re-utilizes bins to locate media faster, and offers task based work spaces for production teams.
  2. Next-Gen Avid Media Engine: The new next generation Avid Media Engine features native OP1A, greater video and audio stream support, Live timeline and background rendering, and distributed processing.
  3. New Workflows: Media Composer also includes new finishing and delivery workflows for users to create better content, including editing, effects, color and audio finishing tools- all without leaving the Media Composer Application.
  4. Customizable Tool Set: This feature was built specifically for production teams. Media Composer Enterprise includes administrative control which customizes a production interface for any role on the team.

Avid Media Composer is set for release in late Spring.
