The Video Guys movie night at LIVA

Last night the Videoguys sponsored a very special event at the LIVA (Long Island Videographers Association) meeting. It was movie night and the movie was an incredible indy film called the “The Videoguys”. The movie is produced, written, shot and features local videographer Dan Brennan and his family.

The Video Guys movie was great. It’s about an Event Videographer, his team and the impact they have on weddings and that weddings have on them and his family. It’s a humorous look at the world of the event videographer, from his own perspective. And that is why this movie is so great. Dan Brennan and many of the stars of this movie are event videographers, who got into the business as a way to make a living while pursuing acting/writing careers. I’m not a movie critic so I’m not going to even attempt to review the movie. But I am going to tell you that if you have ever shot, edited, watched or been in a wedding video, then you have got to see this movie. I loved it!

Just like Videoguys.com is a family business, so was the making of “The Video Guys” movie. Dan wrote and stars in the movie, his wife Jeanne produced the movie and his two daughters are in it as well. I have to tell you, his daughter Sabrina plays Miss Pinky (his daughter in the movie) and she is fantastic! She deserves every best supporting actress award she has already won and many more to come.

While the movie was great, the Q&A that followed at the LIVA meeting was even better. Dan, Jeanne, Russ Camarda (one of the stars) Jon Kilgour (audio engineer) and other members of the cast and crew were on hand to answer questions about the making of the movie. They talked about the episodic nature of the story and how they pulled much of it from situations that all of the videographers in the room could easily relate to. They talked about funding the film and how many times they were fortunate to be helped by fellow videographers and friends. When the subject came up about editing Dan figured he spent over 300 hours editing it. They used Final Cut Pro, Logic Studio for the audio, G-Tech G-RAIDs for storage and Magic Bullet for achieving those special film looks. (He even gave a couple of plugs in for Videoguys.com – thanks Dan).

Videoguys.com is proud to be a sponsor of LIVA and we look forward to participating in even more events in the future. If you are a metro NY based Videographer I strongly recommend you check out their website and look into joining. It’s a great community of professionals looking to help each other grow their craft and their businesses. While online user groups and forums are fantastic, it’s still even better to get to meet and talk and share your experiences face to face with fellow Videographers.

Disclaimer: Videoguys.com has nothing to do with "The Video Guys" movie, other then the name. Dan and many of the folks who worked on and in the movie are local videographers and our customers. In fact it was very funny the first time Dan dropped into the Videoguys.com offices because he desperately need to add another G-Tech G-Raid and he couldn’t wait even a day for delivery. While he was waiting for us to process his order we talked about the movie. I had gotten a Google alert about "The Video Guys" movie trailer being on line (because of the “Video Guys” title) and had watched it a few weeks earlier. I told Dan I loved the trailer and could not wait to see the movie. He thanked us for the support and the great service, and then he told me he did have one problem with our company.

Dan said “Every time I search for my movie, your website comes up and pretty much fills the whole first page of results!” We both laughed and I told him to keep us posted on the movies progress and that I would keep checking in on the website. I was so glad I got to see the movie last night with Dan and then being able to tell him and Jeanne in person how much I loved it. We’re proud to have Dan and his crew as customers and we wish them and the movie all the success in the world. Nothing would make us happier then to get pushed off the top spot in Google because “The Video Guys” becomes a big hit!
