supports 5 removable drives. The ultimate in high speed video storage, the MediaVault U320-R is available in capacities from 800 GB up to 2 TB. Dual fans and a hefty 250 watt power supply provide cooling and power to spare.
The MediaVault U320-R has 5 removable disk drives and can be configured for RAID 0 or RAID 3 operation. In RAID 0 mode all 5 drives are used for storage and maximum performance. When in RAID 3 mode, one drive is used for "parity" information, so performance and capacities are diminished about 20%. In RAID 3 mode if a drive fails your footage will still be there - and you can continue working with no degradation in performance. Simply replace the failed drive when convenient and the unit will reconstruct the parity data.
The MediaVault U320-R is true Plug-and-Play. The next-generation on-board programmable RAID controller takes care of formatting, striping and all RAID functions - while appearing as a single HUGE disk drive to the operating system. The controller also provides built in diagnostics to monitor drive performance and health.

How expandable is the MediaVault U320?
Four MediaVaults to one SCSI U320 chain.
Is the MediaVault U320 easy to install?

What cable type do I need for use with ATTO SCSI host adapters?
The MediaVault line of product uses 68HD SCSI connectors, when mating with ATTO's line of SCSI host adapters you would need:
| UL3S - 68HD to VHDCI |
UL3D - 68HD to VHDCI |
| UL4S - 68HD to 68HD |
UL4D - 68HD to VHDCI |
If you intend to daisy chain serval MediaVaults together, you would need 68HD to 68HD. |

Absolutely! We can diagnose the majority of the problems in the field with the supplied diagnostic cable and our built in diagnostics
I'm confused. Is the MediaVault U320 SCSI or IDE?
The connection between your computer and the MediaVault is U320 SCSI. Internally, the Huge MediaVault uses 5 or 10 IDE drives, depending on the model.
Are IDE drives as reliable as SCSI drives?
Absolutely! In video applications, IDE drives are actually better. They have fewer parts, use less power, and run cooler than SCSI drives.
What's the advantage of using a MediaVault U320 instead of a JBOD?
With the MediaVault U320, you don't need to manage striping software. You can transfer the MediaVault U320 from one system to another easily. And since it takes only a single SCSI ID, it's much more expandable than a JBOD.
I see the 1.8TB MediaVault Dual Max is approved by Pinnacle for the Cinewave - will other capacities work?
Absolutely! The drive family in all the Huge Media Vault Dual Max products is the same, and they will all work with CineWave.
