Since it's introduction last year, Matrox has released a ton of cool new features for the RT2500 and the RT2000. This makes the RT2500 a great investment for digital videographers. It just keeps getting better and more powerful! WAY TO GO MATROX!!

Edit in real time
As a video editor, your goal is to complete the greatest
number of projects, with the highest production values, in the
shortest possible time, and have fun doing it. Editing is more
productive and more enjoyable when your editing system lets
you see the results of your edit decisions immediately; when
you have complete creative control; when you AVOID
RENDERING!
RT2500 lets you work with two video streams plus a graphics/title track, all at the same time, with maximum creative freedom.
You get over 1000 realtime, broadcast-quality 2D and 3D digital video effects and transitions including page curls, organic wipes, particle effects, distortions, 3D tiles, and 2D and 3D DVEs with customizable drop shadows, soft edges, and color borders.
You can even use key frames to size position and rotate your clips in real time to get exactly the look you want. Over 60 of Adobe Premiere's native transitions can also be used in real time.
If you're into effects, the RT2500 with its vast repertoire of dazzling realtime transitions and filters, is definitely the editing platform for you. But even if you prefer a more conservative look, you can still save countless hours of rendering thanks to the true three-layer realtime editing architecture of the RT2500 and its essential realtime capabilities such as transparency, colorization, cropping, picture-in-picture, and realtime title preview.
Matrox RT2500 is a single PCI-bus video editing card that
works with the display card in your computer system.
The RT2500 lets you use the graphics card of your choice under Win2K (For WinME the only currently approved graphics card is the Matrox G450). We highly recommend the G450 graphics card with your RT2500. The G450 will give you dual heads, so you can drive two computer monitors. This will give you addition workspace and allow you to maximize your productivity to the fullest.
Capture
RT2500 lets you capture video clips from analog or DV sources that you can then edit in Adobe Premiere. If you already have edited material
on tape that you want to use in your DVD project, RT2500 lets you directly capture MPEG-2 IBP clips in realtime over the analog input for immediate use in DVDit! LE.
Edit
The realtime video editing power of RT2500 gives you the creative freedom to experiment. You can add 3D effects and transitions and create eye-catching graphics and titles to get exactly the look you want for the video on your DVD. You can easily produce sophisticated visual effects like you see on network television. When you're happy
with your video sequences, you simply export them directly from the Adobe Premiere timeline. RT2500 lets you compress to DVD-compliant MPEG-2 at a constant bit rate (CBR) or a variable bit rate (VBR). Hardware accelerated MPEG-2 encoding makes this process very fast. Your video files are then ready for use in DVDit! LE.

Sonic Solutions DVDit! LE is so easy to use, you don't have to be a DVD expert to get professional results. You simply create as many menus and buttons as you like to provide navigation, then link your video clips to the buttons using a drag and drop interface. You can use the predefined, customizable templates for backgrounds and buttons
or create your own using Adobe PhotoShop LE, which is also bundled with RT2500. To verify your DVD project, you can build a DVD image on
your hard disk and use the bundled Matrox DVD player to play it back.
Burn
When you're satisfied with your DVD project, you can burn it directly to a DVD. Just insert a blank DVD-R disc to your DVD-R drive and
select "Make DVD Disc" directly from DVDit! LE. Your DVD is ready for viewing on any PC-based or set-top DVD player. DVDit! LE is compatible
with popular DVD-R burners, including the new low-cost Pioneer DVR-A03 DVD-RW/CD-RW and Panasonic LF-D311 DVD-R/DVD-RAM drives.
Room to grow
DVDit! LE is a quick and easy way to create simple DVDs. Additional background and button templates are available from Sonic Solutions
with various themes such as sports, corporate, celebrate, and travel. When you are ready to explore some of the more extensive features that
DVD has to offer, you can choose more advanced applications from Sonic Solutions such as DVDit! SE or PE, ReelDVD, Fusion, and Scenarist.
Archiving on DVD
RT2500 lets you capture MPEG-2 IBP files from analog video in real time at up to 15 mbps. This unique feature is very useful for quickly
archiving your video footage and projects onto DVD at high quality. For example, on a double-sided DVD-RAM disc you can store up to 9.4
gigabytes of data – that's 160 minutes of video at 15 mbps.

Matrox RT2500 harness the power of Matrox
Millennium graphics accelerator technology (built into the card) via the
revolutionary Matrox Flex 3D architecture to deliver
broadcast-quality 2D and 3D effects in real time.
You get over 1,000 realtime filters and transitions including particle effects, 3D tiles, distortion effects, page curls, organic wipes and 2D and 3D DVEs. You can keyframe perspective settings such as rotation, size and position.

Using keyframes
One of the key features of Matrox RT2500 is the keyframe effects. You have maximum creative
control to easily design exactly the look you want. You can
resize, position, and rotate your clip in real time, and view the

Preview Window using your mouse, you can even click and
drag to resize, rotate, or position your clip.
The keyframeable effects you create may be saved so you can readily duplicate your effect later in your project or in new projects.

In addition to its impressive realtime capabilities, Matrox
RT2500 also provides a
hardware-accelerated multi-layer compositing engine. This lets
you render an unlimited number of video and graphics layers
full of complex Matrox effects in a single pass at an
unprecedented speed. Compression-free internal processing
prevents multiple generation loss.
The multi-layer compositing engine lets you create extremely complex video projects with stunning effects, and in very little time. Even on a single 350 MHz PII CPU you get ultra high-speed rendering. Inscriber TitleExpress is a plug-in for
Adobe Premiere that lets you quickly and
easily create televison-quality video titles.
You can choose from almost 200
pre-designed titling templates, then simply type in the text
that you want. You also have the freedom to design your own
title pages. To maximize screen impact, TitleExpress comes
with over 150 pre-designed text styles and includes full
support for all TrueType fonts. You can craft your look
through text placement, sizing, kerning, width, leading and
slant. For added flexibility, TitleExpress offers realtime
preview of titles over video to allow precise text positioning.
