Parhelia 8X 128 meg $399.95

For users of software NLE and visual effects applications, Parhelia's support for dual-display plus TV-output and PureVideo Preview provides the unique benefit of accurately previewing projects in-progress on a video monitor while still having the luxury of the added display real-estate through dual-display. Users of hardware editing based workstations will find Parhelia to be the ultimate companion card thanks to its support for DualHead®-HighFidelity (HF) and TripleHead Desktop. Matrox Parhelia's unique DualHead-HF technology ensures identical visual quality on both displays, with dual independent gamma correctable hardware overlays for video in a window and support for up to 2048x1536 resolution on each RGB display. Parhelia also boasts numerous other beneficial features for video including What-You-See-Is-What-You-Get (WYSIWYG) Plug-ins for Adobe After Effects and Discreet™ 3D Studio Max™, Realtime Display Color Adjustment, UltraSharp Display Output technology, Dual-DVI output support and composite and S-Video output for video monitors and VCRs.

"Adobe Premiere and After Effects users are always looking for ways to increase their productivity," says Erik Lundblade, OEM product manager for Adobe Digital Video products. "The new dual-display and TV-Output support offered by the Matrox Parhelia display card will help improve efficiency by allowing the editor to view the application, timeline and effects windows across two displays, and preview their digital video project on a TV or video monitor."

Multi-display is the quintessential solution for boosting productivity
Non-linear video editing applications such as Adobe Premiere and Avid Xpress DV offer a host of tools that are exposed through many different windows. The essential video preview windows, editing timeline, video/audio/graphic clip bins, and effects control menus can quickly fill the workspace of single-display desktops. Parhelia's support for TripleHead Desktop mode and DualHead plus TV-Output significantly boosts efficiency, productivity and usability by eliminating cumbersome overlapping windows and the need to constantly open, close, maximize and minimize the different windows. In addition, the ability to preview the video project full screen to a TV monitor while editing--called PureVideo--cuts down production time dramatically and leaves more time for exercising creativity.

The most comprehensive display solution combining DualHead® plus TV-Output for software NLE workstations
For software-based NLE workstations with applications such as Adobe Premiere and Avid Xpress DV, Parhelia provides support for dual-display plus TV-output for simultaneous full screen previewing on a video monitor in native NTSC and PAL format. Using these popular non-linear video editing packages, Parhelia becomes a one-card professional video editing studio. Matrox has combined essential software features for this market to provide the most comprehensive collection of tools for boosting productivity, enhancing usability and guaranteeing the highest possible display quality. These include PureVideo Preview and Realtime Display Color Adjustment.

PC Magazine had this to say about Matrox Parhelia:
"The biggest draw: The Parhelia supports what Matrox calls TripleHead mode for Surround Gaming, which lets you spread the action across three adjacent monitors. With monitors so affordable, this feature can also benefit graphics pros, video producers, and anyone else who craves more screen real estate."

The best companion display card delivering TripleHead Desktop for hardware based editing workstations
For hardware-based editing platforms, Matrox Parhelia can be combined with a hardware-based video editing solution such as the Matrox RT.X100 or Pinnacle brand products to support up to three RGB outputs and a TV. Most hardware video editing products offer TV-Output; combined with Parhelia's DualHead-HF and TripleHead Desktop mode, it is possible for users to enjoy the world's most comprehensive multi-display support with an additional TV monitor for full-screen video previewing. The dual-display option allows users to choose between dual RGB and dual DVI with dual gamma correctable hardware overlays and support for high resolution with identical image quality on both displays. This configuration lets users take advantage of Parhelia's realtime independent gamma correction for video in a window on the desktop. The triple-RGB display option provides the maximum display real-estate for the widest timelines and a plethora of related application and tool windows. Another way to benefit from Parhelia's additional workspace is to use the third display for a related application. A titling, paint, compositing, or audio sweetening package can be maximized on the third output so that elements can be quickly and easily moved between applications without re-organizing the workspace.

Avid Xpress DV on two displays with full-screen video preview on TV monitor

PureVideo Preview delivers the highest quality video preview
To deliver full-screen independent output to a video display in native NTSC or PAL format, without the loss in quality caused by rescaling, Matrox introduces the PureVideo feature. This feature facilitates editing by offering a full-screen preview of high quality video on a TV monitor, while running dual RGB displays. The composition with the adjusted effects parameters can be viewed on a full-sized NTSC or PAL monitor instead of in a tiny, postage stamp-sized window on an RGB display.

Realtime Display Color Adjustment and gamma correction
Matrox Parhelia also allows users to easily adjust 4 proc-amp controls-hue, saturation, brightness, and contrast-in realtime, a feature called Realtime Display Color Adjustment. These controls can be adjusted independently for video in a window and for PureVideo output on a TV. In addition, users can independently adjust the gamma of the overlay window to ensure accurate color representation, closely mimicking the characteristics of a TV.

Motion graphics and visual effects processing become effortless
Compositing and animation effects are often created on an RGB monitor, but in most cases the final outcome of the project will be viewed on a TV monitor, which has display characteristics that are different from an RGB monitor. To avoid visual discrepancies, the created visual effects, motion graphics or animations are usually rendered along with the video data stream and played back through a video editing application, which is often a lengthy and time consuming process. To speed up the post production process and enrich your compositing experience, Parhelia offers true full-screen preview capability from within the application with WYSIWYG Plug-ins.

Adobe After Affects on two displays with full-screen video preview on TV monitor
Parhelia is the only display solution that includes WYSIWYG (What-You-See-Is-What-You-Get) Plug-ins for Adobe After Effects and Discreet 3ds max. PureVideo full-screen preview on a video monitor supports the included WYSIWYG Plug-ins allowing users to preview their work in progress directly on a video monitor. This ensures proper 4:3 or 16:9 aspect ratio in NTSC or PAL, and allows users to check for exact color temperature, safe-title area, and any interlace artifacts that may be present in images. These plug-ins are fully compatible with Matrox's multi-display and TV outputs. Therefore, users of the supported effects and animation packages can enjoy accurate previewing of their creations with WYSIWYG on a TV along with dual-display, enriching the creative experience while increasing productivity.
