More resolution support than Avid Xpress Pro Supports all legacy and current Avid resolutions and formats including ABVB and Meridien projects, bins, sequences, and media.

Archive to Tape allows a user to store the source media associated with sequences, master clips, sub clips, and group clips to video tape. Users can use this to dramatically reduce the amount of tapes necessary to restore a project as well as transfer to a more robust format that is less susceptible to dropout.

Capture to Timeline write media directly to a predetermined segment of the timeline. Rather than go through the process of logging, capturing, marking and editing, the editor can replace the necessary material in the timeline with a single keystroke.

Multicamera Editing

  • Clip grouping for up to 99 clips (Avid Xpress Pro limited to4)
  • Multigroup capability for grouping multiple “banks” ofcamera angles allows for more efficient editing selections

VTR Emulation (Remote play and capture) Traditional post facilities and broadcast environments are made up of a wide variety of cpu-based and black-box solutions. Many of which can’t be networked over TCP or Fibre connections. Using the broadcast standard serial control protocol, Media Composer’s VTR emulation lets it work together with devices such as switchers and media encoders with the simplicity of a source deck.

VBI Preservation (Vertical Blanking Interval) This feature instructs the system to preserve 5 lines above each field in NTSC and 8 lines above each field for PAL when you display a sequence or perform a digital cut. This results in essential control when working with encoded information such as closed captioning, edge codes or key numbers for film projects, or various interactive or enhanced TV codes.

Acquisition
File-based Formats like Sony’s XDCAM and Panasonic P2 are taking off in production due to their benefits in cost, quality and immediacy. Media Composer has distinct advantages for customers with a need to work with this format.
