With LTO7, Fujifilm has further developed its proprietary BaFe magnetic particle technology and “NANOCUBIC technology,” expanding storage capacity to about 2.4 times that of LTO6 at 6 TB native and making data transfers approximately 1.9 times faster, reaching 300 MB/sec.
LTO Generation 7 hardware is backward read/write compatible with LTO Ultrium 6 data cartridges and backward read compatible with LTO Ultrium 5 data cartridges. As with the previous generation, LTO Ultrium 7 hardware incorporates the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) and Linear Tape File System (LTFS) dual partitioning functionality. In addition, Fujifilm LTO 7 cartridges are capable of long life archive for over 30 years and it also has excellent read/write accuracy on drives that start to wear down after repeated use.
