The Epoch | 4K Neutron & Assimilate SCRATCH Bundle from Bluefish444 is an I/O PCIe card and DI software package for handling real-time 4K/UHD footage up to 30 fps. The bundle pairs Bluefish444's Epoch | 4K Neutron bi-directional with and a permanent license for Assimilate SCRATCH that includes the first year of updates and support. The software is a digital download and is available in Windows or Mac versions. The Epoch | 4K Neutron is a half-length PCIe card that allows for easy integration with rack mounts, smaller form computers, and portable PCIe or Thunderbolt enclosures. It has a full-height shield and connectivity for AES/EBU digital audio, analog audio, and RS-422 control, which are all available via an included breakout cable.

Featuring three BNC connectors, the Epoch | 4K Neutron supports single-link or dual-link 3G-SDI signals to support DCI 4K (4096 x 2160) and Ultra HD (3840 x 2160) input or output at up to 30 fps. For cost-effective monitoring, the card also features an HDMI output that supports up to DCI 4K at 24 fps and UHD up to 30 fps. Like other Bluefish444 cards, Neutron cards use a 12-bit processing pipeline to maintain the full quality of your source material. Additional features such as 4 x 1D x 12-bit LUTs on all of the SDI outputs, a low-latency hardware video keyer, and compatibility with industry standard Bluefish444 and 3rd party software – such as the included Assimilate SCRATCH – make the Epoch | 4K Neutron ideal for a variety of applications and workflows, including editing, color correction, video streaming, production, mobile production, digital intermediate, and image quality control.

SCRATCH is a comprehensive DI software that helps you take control of your digital workflow, bringing together real-time data management, dailies playback and review, conform, editing, color grading, titling, 3D compositing, and finishing into a single, consistent user interface. SCRATCH also integrates via XML with other tools in your workflow. SCRATCH offers real-time full-resolution support and native playback of all popular camera formats, including stereoscopic 3D workflows, and is fully ACES compliant. An advanced and scriptable XML back-end allows you to access your job anywhere via HTML, and integrate with other tools in your workflow, such as Nuke, Shotgun, Avid, and Final Cut Pro. You can also enhance SCRATCH with OFX plug-ins such as Sapphire, Beauty Box, Twixtor, and Neat Video.

  • Epoch | 4K Neutron

The Epoch | 4K Neutron from Bluefish444 is a bi-directional I/O PCIe card for capturing or playback applications that require 4K/UHD SDI signals, multi-channel 3G/HD/SD SDI signals, and 4K/UHD HDMI monitoring. At half the length of a full-size PCIe card, the Epoch | 4K Neutron takes the functionality of a larger card and packs it into a form factor that allows for easy integration with rack mounts, smaller form computers, and portable PCIe or Thunderbolt enclosures.

This model comes with a full-height shield with connectivity for AES/EBU digital audio, analog audio, RS-422 control, and an auxiliary genlock BNC, which are all available via an included breakout cable. An alternative model is separately available that replaces the extra audio support for an extra, built-in genlock BNC connector. Additionally, an "LP" model is available separately that forgoes audio connectivity or the extra genlock connector for a low-profile shield that increases compatibility with compact expansion chassis.

Additional features such as 4 x 1D x 12-bit LUTs on all of the SDI outputs, a low-latency hardware video keyer, and compatibility with industry-standard Bluefish444 and 3rd party software make the Epoch | 4K Neutron ideal for a variety of applications and workflows, including editing, color correction, video streaming, production, mobile production, digital intermediate, and image quality control.

    • Generate dailies by automatically naming clips based on any metadata field, including camroll, scene, and take
    • Create flash burns either at the top and tail of a clip, or throughout its duration
    • Capture scene and take metadata automatically from broadcast wave audio files
    • Automatically generate new timecode for DSLR cameras such as the Phantom, Canon 5D/7D and GoPro that don't support it; easily increment the timecode with each slot and even skip by user-defined intervals
    • Populate Avid AAF files with extended metadata, avoiding the double pass to access that ALE files required
    • Select, update, add, or remove metadata in a spreadsheet editor-style. Update metadata for a single shot or multiple shots at once, as well as update data by entering plain text or using formulas that contain other metadata items. New metadata can then be exported via ALE or XML to be imported into other systems or integrated with other proprietary tools
    • Match/find, load and apply looks to multiple shots in the form of 3dl, CDL, LUT or XML, and audio. This feature will search and match by name, time-code, or any common metadata items. In addition, artists can now auto-link audio files to shots purely based on metadata and file name
    Audio Sync
    • Broadcast wave support
    • Automatically sync to timecode or slate
    • Interactive waveform for sync
    • Interactive audio scrub
Stereoscopic 3D Workflow SupportEnjoy the creativity of a full stereoscopic workflow that provides consistent, intuitive feedback during the conform, color grading, and finishing process. Stereoscopic image pairs are automatically linked for versioning and real-time playback to a wide variety of stereoscopic delivery systems.

    • Bicubic controls for fixing 3D stereo images
    • Position elements relative to the screen plane
    • Immediately review decisions in stereo
    • Panasonic 3D stereo camera support with automatic stream de-muxing
Live ViewThe Live View function takes in the SDI signal from a camera and allows you to work and grade directly on the camera feed. It also takes in the camera metadata if available which is then displayed in the metadata stack in the Player module. In addition, the name of a SCRATCH Gallery item can be based on the metadata of the current shot (e.g. Live View). The grade set can then be easily linked to the recorded shot further downstream in the pipeline.XML Back-End for FlexibilityFuture-proof your workflow with an advanced and scriptable XML back-end that allows you to:
    • Automate SCRATCH to maximize productivity
    • Access your job anywhere via HTML
    • Integrate SCRATCH via XML with other tools in your workflow such as Nuke, Shotgun, Avid, or Final Cut Pro

Oculus Rift SupportSCRATCH now supports the VR360 file format including Cylindrical, Equirectangular, and Cube formats for output to a secondary monitor, or an Oculus Rift DKI or DKII. With a Rift connected, these formats are mapped in real-time to Rift output, with full head-tracking support. SCRATCH will output in 360-mode with just a normal secondary display/monitor acting as a window into the virtual world, with real-time ability to pan, track, and tilt around the sphere. This means that developers creating cinematic content for the Rift now have a powerful tool that allows them to grade VR shots in real-time - whether or not they have a Rift headset.Vanguard H.264 EncodingSCRATCH includes ab H.264 encoder from Vanguard Video, LLC, so artists now have the optimal combination of bitrate, filesize ,and quality for their dailies and preview content.Copy & Consolidate MediaConform data from multiple sources, then make local copies or consolidate all media into a new single location. The consolidate can be monitored via a process queue and is a background process, allowing artists to continue working on the same or another project -- even exit SCRATCH -- and the process will continue until is completed.Additional Features
