Working Together: the big story at NAB

Kylee Wall is one of my favorite women in post. At NAB she inspired a panel called “Working Together to Close the Gender Gap in Post-production” that was very well attended.  I always enjoy reading her articles on Creative COW and this one is no exception.  She spotlights some new workflows that allow for increasaed collaboration Read More

Adobe Premiere Pro CC and The GoPro CineForm Codec: Video Production in An Ultra HD World

UltraHD is here to stay as more and more consumers demand content that makes them feel like they are part of an experience. Some analysts think that by the end of 2018, 10% of American households will have 4K capable TVs and by the end of 2024, that number could reach 50%. That means that it?s up to us, as content creators, to start getting comfortable with editing in 4K and 5K?or even 6K?to create Ultra HD content to meet this increasing demand.

Cineform in Creative Cloud: render quality settings + more

GoPro Cineform, aka the SMPTE ST 2073 VC-5 video compression standard, is a cross platform codec that in Creative Cloud piggybacks onto QuickTime (warts and all). The codec is available in Adobe video apps in CC 2014.1, and plays system-wide if you download the free player or free GoPro Studio app. GoPro Cineform is a wavelet-based codec that holds up well even after multiple encodes, and features full support for alpha and large frame sizes of 4K and beyond

But because so much was going on at IBC, it was actually difficult to dig

doddle Review: Atomos Ninja Star

I received a new Atomos Ninja Star external recorder recently and I have to say, while I knew it was a small recorder, it didn?t really hit me just how small it was until I pulled it out of the case and held it in my hand. About the size of an iPod classic, it?s not nearly as heavy ? weighing in at 130G. Atomos says it?s essentially the Ninja recorder without the LCD screen, and it was designed to be ideal for DSLR shooters and maybe even quadcopters. In fact, Jeremy Young from Atomos told a pa
