While 2009 isn’t that far away I’m happy to report that I have recently gotten my hands on the Magic Bullet Suite 2008 from Red Giant Software. It’s a comprehensive suite of software that would go well in most any editors toolbox, especially if he/she does finishing out of the edit suite. There’s really a lot of things that this package can do and you might not use everything on one job. But then if you put them all together and use them to complement each other you just might find Magic Bullet Read More

Media Composer version 3.0.5 was released this week and, along with some key bug fixes, it offers a couple of important new features. First and foremost, it allows you to select all clips to the right or left of the blue cursor, or all clips between marks. Avid Media Composer has been the standard on which all NLEs have been based. The first Media Composer rolled off the factory line in 1989. It came with its own Mac, specialized hardware and a hefty price tag. A lot has changed since then, yet Avid Media Composer remains the standard in video and film editing for feature films and TV shows. However, the landscape for digital video editing software has changed, with a lot more competition for your video editing dollar. How well does the Media C Read More

Adobe has announced their Creative Suite 4, in which they have aligned the schedules of virtually all of their products to be updated at the same time. One of these programs is, of course, After Effects, which we have based our business around since its release in 1992. As a result, we obviously go over each new release with a fine-tooth comb, looking for which new features will make our lives easier, will give us new looks, and which may open up new avenues of business for us. That last point h Read More

Once again, these products can be purchased individually or as part of various collections for Web, video and print. Plus the all-in-one Master Collection. All CS4 products will ship by the end of Q4 2008. I’ll focus my comments on Adobe Creative Suite 4 Production Premium — the collection for video professionals. Its main Read More
