The comments below have been added to our Videoguys' Options for Final Cut Editors blog post, but I felt they were also worth sharing as a new blog post. For me the most important thing in the update isn't actually included in 10.0.1 at all. Rather it is this very important information found at the bo Read More

Being a Nikon shooter in a multimedia world has some disadvantages. In 2008, Nikon launched the D90, which was the first DSLR with the ability to shoot video as well as stills. The Motion JPEG codec the D90 recorded in was a nightmare for Final Cut Pro to deal with. My newspaper bought two of these cameras on release. I played around with one, shrugged my shoulders, Read More

Matrox have taken a different approach to Thunderbolt connectivity with their I/O products compared to other manufacturers. At IBC 2011, Matrox Electronic Systems Ltd announced their solution to bring their products up to date with Thunderbolt connectivity. The Thunderbolt adapter is available for $199 for customers who have an MXO product already. So the p Read More

As we enter an age where our raw footage is either so compressed that recompression for an online edit seems like a very silly option, or so beautifully flexible that we shouldn’t be binding it with the permanence many budgets and minds associate with a transcode to ProRes, the stage is being set for raw workflows based in metadata. This is where Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 shines. Read More
