The HD-Connect LE is an HDV to HD/SD-SDI convertor box featuring embedded audio and time-code as well as analog component, AES and LTC outputs. This small unit offers a cost-effective solution for converting HDV material from Sony, JVC or Canon decks or camcorders to uncompressed HD/SD-SDI. Users can connect the HD/SD-SDI output to their NLE systems and convert HDV to DVCProHD, DNxHD or uncompressed HD in real-time, thus eliminating all the Long GOP (and long render times) associated with HDV editing. Additionally, the HD-Connect LE converts RS-422 deck commands to 1394, so the HDV deck or camcorder can be directly controlled from an editing application. Offline/Online workflows as well as batch captures are therefore easily supported.

The Convergent Design HD-Connect LE integrates video, audio, time-code and deck control into a simple, cost effective box. This ultra portable unit offers the unique features of conversion to HD or SD, allowing users to output to the widest variety of formats: HD-CAM, DVC Pro HD (via HD-SDI), DigiBeta or Betacam. HD-Connect LE offers two modes of deck control: RS-422 to 1394 and 1394 to RS-422. The RS-422 to 1394 deck control is intended for HD/SD-SDI based editing systems, while the 1394 to RS-422 mode is perfect for HDV based editing systems.
