At the DV Expo major new products were introduced for desktop video editing. Unfortunately not all the products mentioned in this article are shipping. The Canopus Rex RT & DPS Velocity 2D are now shipping. Hopefully by Thanksgiving they will all be readily available. In addition to seeing them at the show, I had the chance to play with all these hot new products in private demo sessions and beta tests. (Read More)

1998 was a banner year for revolutionary new desk top video editing products. Not only are the 12 products on this list (two ties) outstanding, but each one pushed the envelope of the current technology and has left an indelible mark on the timeline of digital video editing. 1997 has been a fantastic year for new DTV products. I have been using, testing and reviewing DTV products for almost 2 years now. I can’t believe how far we’ve come in such a short time.
