The VX-9 is a plastic-cased LED monitor which has maximum versatility through the inclusion of every possible I/O option. Up to this point, all LED monitors included component video inputs as well as SD options such as composite or S-Video. From that point, users could opt for those standard I/O’s and either SDI or HDMI. The VX-9 includes both SDI and HDMI. This will probably go down as one of our most successful NAB shows ever! We've picked up several new lines, the most significant one I can tell you about is AJA, but we will have more exciting news to share with you as the spring heads into summer. We also saw the launch of a new product line-up form Matrox, giving them affordable HD I/O devices at every price/ user level. When I first turned on the new Ikan V8000HDMI monitor, a line from one of my favorite movies came to mind. My version of Dave Bowman’s “My God, it’s full of stars” line from 2001 A Space Odyssey was, “My God, “it’s full of colors!” Beautiful, dense, vivid colors. ( Read More)

Accurate field monitoring is a critical component of any shoot, particularly in HD. While many camcorders, particularly the smaller ones, now have color LCD screens this has become a non-issue in some circles. However, the bigger the budget, the more critical every technical issue becomes, including basics such as accurate focus. ( Read More)
