Nathans In fall 2004, Sony Pictures declared its Screenblast consumer etailer/video club dead and reconfigured their low-cost post-production software line as a consistently named line of "Studio" products. In the December article "Pre-Pro NLEs" we looked at Vegas Movie Studio 4 as a whittled-down version of Vegas that offered a solid introduction to the Vegas interface and an impressive feature set for a $99 product. It also provides a window into Sony Pictures' strategy for integrating its "pre-pro" product line: with a single click on a clip's audio track in the Movie Studio trimmer, you can open the track in Sound Forge Audio Studio and refine it there. read more... It's hard to keep track of all the versions of ACID out there. Sony Pictures claims there are only three, but that doesn't count all the different iterations of the "lite" versions you're likely to find in CD recording bundles—which is the first place many users are likely to encounter the ACID software.
