It goes without saying that the production industry has seen some significant changes in the past couple of years. Disruptive camera technology (RED ONE, Canon 5D Mark II, etc.) has created a new industry in which low-budget filmmakers can now compete with studios in delivering a professional looking film. Adobe has more than usual riding on CS6, the latest version of its Creative Suite package for production and post. CS5.5 launched at NAB last year just as Final Cut Pro X was landing with a thud among users who didn't care for the radically rethought interface and slimmed-down feature set. Adobe's Premiere Pro NLE already had some momentum, thanks to broad native format support on the timeline and a substantial performance boost through NVIDIA GPU acceleration, and the company enjoyed a surge of (Read More)

At one minute past midnight EST, Adobe published details about their new version of Premiere Pro CS6. We had the pleasure of a sneak peek a few weeks ago. Why should an FCP based website look at a rival NLE? It is clear that FCPX isn't to everybody's liking and there are customers who have hundreds of FCP7 projects that need updating and won't survive the current transfer tools available. Adobe are clearly going after the editors and post houses that don't want to make the transition to X (Read More)

Today I had the opportunity to meet with Crucial and learn about their new Adrenaline product. I am very intrigued by this concept. I see it as being a potential homerun for video editors. Professional NLE apps like Avid Media Composer and Adobe Premiere take a while to open up. The more plug-ins. pre-sets and fonts you use, the longer it takes the host app to initially open. Talk to someone who uses Photoshop all the time and has tons of fonts, and they'll tell you the same thing. Creative fol (Read More)

Adobe Systems has released a second advance look at Photoshop CS6 that shows new work to give a hardware boost to the image-editing software. The graphics processing unit (GPU) speeds the Liquify tool, which lets people smear images in a finger-painting way, according to a Zorana Gee, a Photoshop product manager. She demonstrated the change in a YouTube video, the second in what looks to be a series of previews of the software. (Read More)

When you look at Adobe CS Production Premium’s video production tools - Premiere Pro, After Effects, Encore, Audition, and Photoshop - many if not all could be considered industry leaders in their own right. But it’s how they share assets that makes the suite such a powerful performer. Applications in Adobe CS Production Premium share assets in several ways. The goal? To save you time, reduce your work load, and ensure your assets retain their original quality throughout the video production (Read More)

Adobe has succesfully generated a hype leading up to the launch of Creative Suite 5. Through various sites fragments were’leaked’. This created the so called buzz that was picked up and redistributed by the social networks. Exciting and fun for marketing research, but what is do we at Animotion think of CS5? Is it worth to upgrade? And if so, when? At several locations, the new options for After Effects and Premiere Pro get coverage. We’ve tried put pros and cons of upgrading in perspective: (Read More)
