Though This 64-bit Version Moves Faster and Looks Different, the Overall Workflow Remains, Comfortably, the Same
The biggest news for editors when Avid began shipping Media Composer 6 last November was the NLE's transformation into a very modern, 64-bit application. Along with that came other great updates, including the support of third-party hardware options (several of which I tested with this review).

A: Avid's release of 6.0 software for Media Composer and Symphony as well as the 10.0 release of NewsCutter introduces a new SDK structure for third party hardware known as Open I/O. Adobe Premiere Pro has been back in the post-production public consciousness for quite a while. Now at version 5.5 it feels like Adobe began really pushing it when the Mercury Playback Engine was added in 5. I’ve been toying with it off and on for quite a while now but with the recent release of Final Cut Pro X I wanted to give it a real-world, client in the room test. In the end it was both very good, kinda bad … and a little bit ugly. ( Read More)

Well here we are into the first official evening of Final Cut Pro X’s release out into the world. It’s been a busy day and a Twitter search will show a good bunch of love, a whole lot of hate and a little bit in-between. I first want to answer the Burning Questions that I had just the other day. ( Read More)
