The recent Matrox Axio & RTX driver is working quite well with only a few minor issues for Windows users. We are highly recommending that Windows users upgrade to Vista64 (or Win7 64 when released) & 8GB or 16GB of RAM. Here is a PDF with information on using Matrox Axio and RTX with CS4 and identifies a few of these issues. Matrox is continuing to make improvements to their driver. Make sure to periodically check their website for updates. (

I spent four days at NAB last month, and this month I’ll describe what I learned in the key areas that I follow. In the first installment, I’ll describe camcorders and the editing market; in the second batch encoding, disc reproduction, and that all-important “other” category. Note that I didn’t meet with every company in every space, so my goal isn’t to be comprehensive. Rather, I’ll pass along what I learned and saw, and when appropriate, direct you to other resources to complete the picture. (

At NAB Adobe Systems changed the entire future of the scriptwriting game, profession and preproduction. At the NAB (National Association of Broadcasters) conference in Las Vegas, Adobe announced “Adobe Story” a new collaborative scriptwriting tool for film, broadcast, and rich media. (
