Matrox® Video Products Group today announced that release 1.61 for Matrox MXO22, Matrox MXO2 Rack3, Matrox MXO2 Mini4, and Matrox CompressHD5 is now available as a free download from the Matrox website to all registered users. The Matrox products will be demonstrated at IBC 2009 on stand 7.B29. With the economy in the dumps, you would think that companies would be raising the price of software to help offset revenue losses. Not Apple. They have LOWERED the price of Final Cut Studio 3 to a staggering $999 for the full version and $299 for the upgrade. Remember, users of Final Cut Pro, all the way back to version one can upgrade to Final Cut Studio for $299. That's awesome and really unbelievable. With the release of Final Cut Pro 7 things have changed. FCP 7 is now Blu-ray enabled and using the new 'Share' function we can create Blu-ray content and burn to an external (third party) Blu-ray burner. While the authoring abilities of Blu-ray in FCP 7 'Share' are very limited, only a 'Main menu' and 'Chapter Menu', early reports are the the process works and is stable. Read More

"I used the Matrox MXO2 with Final Cut Pro 6 to output an SDI signal to my 15' Sony and then daisy chained into a Hamlet waveform monitor/vectorscope. The Hamlet didn’t have an audio card in it so I also had to lug around a set of peak program meters which I ran off the XLRs from the MX02." Read More
