CANOPUS EDIUS 4 REVIEW

by Paul Wags www.hdvunderwater.com hdv underwater edius Having now used Edius for a few weeks, I am very impressed with what it can do and have parked up Premiere Pro and Aspect HD for now. The main reason for switching is that it can get realtime on the fly conversion to the Canopus HQ and the keyframable colour correction and slow motion in real time is perfect for our underwater footage. Procoder Express is very good and so is the m2t Speed Encoder and it has some features & effects that are definitely better than Premiere Pro. By the time they get this great NLE to version 5 or 6 it could quite easily end up being king of the NLE for the PC world. Look out Adobe & Avid..... Edius 4 has many more features that I have not covered such as multi camera editing, so I would suggest you go to the Canopus Website to read some more. If you have never played with Edius I would suggest you go and download the 30 day trail and give it a go. If you can manage to get some open water underwater footage, suck in some HDV and convert it on the fly to the the Canopus HQ codec, add colour correction with some slow motion then encode out some m2t files. Then do the same with Premiere Pro and Aspect HD and compare. Let me know what you think. read more...
