I’ll take a moment of of my day editing on an Avid to deal with something in the Final Cut Studio world. Specifically, Apple just released an update to the entire package today.

Pro Applications Update 2010-01 improves overall stability and addresses a number of other minor issues. This update is recommended for all users of Final Cut Studio, Final Cut Server, and Logic Studio. Read More

This month I’ll describe the round-trip procedures for moving active project files among the various apps in Final Cut Studio 2009. With the economy in the dumps, you would think that companies would be raising the price of software to help offset revenue losses. Not Apple. They have LOWERED the price of Final Cut Studio 3 to a staggering $999 for the full version and $299 for the upgrade. Remember, users of Final Cut Pro, all the way back to version one can upgrade to Final Cut Studio for $299. That's awesome and really unbelievable. Apple has been listening to its customers. This release directly addresses some of the workflow issues of the past, while adding robust enhancements and maintaining the terrific functionality and interface of the original app. It’s a ridiculous value with a ton of bang for the buck. It will make life easier—and much more fun—for a lot of editors. Read More
